You can acquire an STD from any type of sex as well as sexual contact between you and an infected individual. At Sunset Walk-in, we are highly-professional about any disease. As such, you can be confident in our testing and therapy methods. We offer top-notch services and have a broad range of medical experience in treating STIs. Therefore, you can relax knowing you are in safe hands. However, receiving treatment for your infection begins with the first crucial step: Visiting our facility for a test and consultation.
Recognizing that you have an STD might be difficult. This is especially so because sexually transmitted infections have incubation periods immediately you contract the disease. As such, symptoms manifest themselves a long time after you were infected. You could end up infecting other people with the illness if you do not get treatment early enough. Sometimes, we might not be sure whether we have a bacterial infection or the symptoms we have a sexually transmitted disease. If you experience any of these common signs, we at Sunset Walk-in advise you to get a test done at our facility to confirm the prevalence of any STD. The signs are:
- Painful urination
- Discharge from your genitals
- Testicular pain in men
- Experiencing bleeding in between periods for women
- Anal itching
- Excessive fatigue, coupled with fever and weight loss
- Swollen lymph glands
- Sores around your genital region
However, you should not wait for symptoms to manifest themselves for you to get tested. If you had unprotected sex with a person whose health status you were unsure of, we also advise you to get tested. You should also get a test if you observe any of the above signs on your partner. To get a test with us, all you need is to walk into our facility. Save your time and have your results without the hassle.
Getting your test done
We want to make the situation as comfortable for you as possible. Dr. John has years of experience and training. As such, he is used to testing for all types of infections. He will clearly explain to you what your test involves. Additionally, he can ask about your sexual history, symptoms and why you think you might have an infection. For us, your comfort is key.
Your test can involve a urine sample, a swab from your urethra or vagina or a genital examination. Most test results come out the same day. In case they don’t, we will contact you either via phone, text, email or an unmarked letter depending on your preferences.
In case you test positive for an STD, there are a variety of treatment options available. For gonorrhea, we administer oral tablets or injections. The antibiotics completely heal the disease. Syphilis is treated with a one-time injection. Diseases like bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis are also treated by antibiotic use. Viral infections such as genital herpes and HIV/AIDS are not curable. However, we administer medication that reduces symptoms associated with AIDS.
